COMMENTS: In 1970, Lyle Hess designed a wooden offshore-capable pocket cruiser for Larry & Lyn Pardey. He based the design on the English pilot cutters that plied the rough waters of the English Channel, waiting to pilot the merchant ships into port. Since then, the Samuel L. Morse Company has built 127 BBC 28 1s out of fiberglass between the years 1976-2008. This vessel has become the standard of small, blue water capable vessels, as described in Ferenc Mate’s “The Best Boats to Buy or Build”.

Owners report that there is something special about the way the BBC sails. With 28′ on deck, she carries the sails of most 38′ vessels. Her long waterline of 26’3″ and the shape of her full keel, allows a very good turn of speed, superb tracking and a comfortable motion. She also boasts wide side decks and high bulwarks, and a small cockpit for offshore sailing. Please read about GOOSE. She may not have an extensive offshore equipment list compared to some, but she is seriously for sale as a lightly-used BBC with very low engine hours, sailed only in New England waters. Here is an opportunity to own one of these highly-regarded vessels at a below market price. Her present owner, who is her second owner, purchased her in 2000. For the last few seasons, she has been on the hard. Please call us for your inspection of GOOSE, and thank you for your interest.
