ARCADIA was built in Lunenburg to Murray Stevens design in 1971.
The first owner fabricated and polished most of the stainless fittings himself to a quality that is not possible to buy today.
The white oak, African mahogany and teak used unsparingly in construction is seldom seen on boats of her vintage.
Her teak decks are to 1″ thick, and cabin soles are 1″ thick throughout the interior and cabin sides are 2″ solid teak.
The interior was professionally rebuilt to accommodate family cruising, a small part of which remains unfinished.
Accommodation comprises two private cabins, plus a pullman berth and quarter berth; spacious wraparound galley with Broadwater 4-burner stove/oven/grill, Italian, Corian-type one and a half sinks and drainer, main saloon seating area needs a table to finish it off, seating niche around woodstove, chart table area, head with separate shower cubicle, hanging locker and pantry with built in dry storage stainless bins for long passages.
Upholstery throughout is Alcantara (Ultrasuede).
All new mattresses made with layered Easydry foam and covered with Sunbrella.
As second owner since 1993, “Arcadia” has been a comfortable home with a sunlight filled main cabin and good visibility from below decks, a sea-kindly and swift passage maker and a pleasant liveaboard.
Since returning to Nova Scotia in 2017, she has won several trophies in the local annual classic races.
